Becoming a Psychotherapist was my first choice, a passion I discovered during my sophomore year as an undergrad. Of course, it was not my first major, as I thought I would attend medical school. However, due to a car accident, I had to take a break from classes with laboratory courses, which led me to psychology. The best methods to pique anyone's interest are, in my opinion, abnormal psychology and personality psychology; they started my passion for learning more. After earning my bachelor's degree in psychology, I applied for my master's in marriage and family therapy with a specialty in Latino family studies. At my first internship, my mentor placed me on my trajectory of working with children with trauma. Eighteen years later, I am passionate about learning everything I can and doing as much research as mental health evolves its approach to treatment. Being one who loves learning, this is a perfect fit for me, as you can never know everything in mental health treatment.
I have a variety of things I enjoy doing with my family that consists of 4 kids two boys (14 and 12 yrs old ), two girls (6,3 yrs old), and my husband. But during my alone time, I like painting, drawing, ceramics (I have my Kiln), crocheting, and reading (of course, this includes webtoons). In addition, I enjoy traveling and road trips.

Psychotherapy is a relationship between therapist and client where we apply psychology to help the client change their approach to their behavior and/or symptom.
My career started in 2004 at SPIRITT Family Services. Since then, I have worked in different County agencies, including Outpatient, DFCS, Probation, residential, and private practices working with individuals, groups, and couples dealing with various mental health issues. In 2021 I opened my private practice in Coarsegold, CA, where I’ve been helping individuals, children, and couples achieve their personal goals.
People typically come into therapy due to depression, anxiety, anger, difficulties in relationships, frustrations with work, or other difficult emotional experiences.
I am in-network for the following insurance carriers yet please check with your insurance to ensure I am an approved provider:
The trust you develop, the therapeutic relationship, helps open communication about complex subjects and process experiences, issues, and memories. Therapy is a place to be direct about what you think, want, and need - the therapeutic process thrives on feedback. Therapy works best when we're on the same page about your goals and can agree that the way we're working towards achieving them works for you.
This usually will depend on the severity of your symptoms, but regularly its is once a week.
Therapy is considered “brief” when it lasts about 8-12 sessions which usually takes 2-3 months. Longer therapy can provide greater insights and can last for six months to a year. There are benefits to both types of therapeutic relationships and I maintain the therapeutic relationship as long as it’s still helpful in reaching the goals set forth at the start of our first session when the treatment plan is developed.
Therapy does work, but the commitment to do the work must be in place. The therapist provides you with the tools, yet the success of therapy comes about if the client does the work.
My approach to therapy is formed by my experience benefitting from psychotherapy and my professional expertise. Everyone faces their challenges, and genuinely effective treatment requires a unique approach. My evidence-based approach to therapy involves creating an individualized combination of modalities depending on the needs of each person. I also take into consideration what the client is willing to work on. Not everyone is ready to work on past trauma and wants to work on the now to get by with their daily functioning. I am respectful of my client's wants.
The existing body of research demonstrates that therapy is most effective when it's collaborative, so I encourage all of my clients to offer their input and feedback throughout the process. My goal is to create a therapeutic environment where it is possible to change and grow while gaining insight into yourself.
